Soil characteristics are measured and described for agricultural and environmental purposes. Environmental aspects typically relate to the contamination status of the soil. Agricultural aspects relate to both the physical characteristics and the soil moisture characteristics.
HydroTerra’s trained field team has experience and expertise in undertaking soil and solute sampling and soil texture logging. We have a range of sampling equipment for sale and hire. We work with reputed suppliers such as Dormer and Sentek.
Soil moisture monitoring is an area that Hydroterra has significant expertise in the installation of sensors including Sentek EnviroScan systems (telemetered and data logging), Aquaflex and Adcon amongst others. These sensors allow dynamic soil moisture systems to be understood for irrigation, aquifer recharge and catchment hydrology studies.
HydroTerra’s field teams have undertaken contract soil sampling and logging. In addition, HydroTerra’s instrumentation technicians and engineers have assembled, installed, operated and maintained soil moisture sensor networks for a wide range of applications including: irrigation (golf courses, waste water reuse, viticulture), paired catchment studies, aquifer recharge research, biosolids management, broad acre farming systems and more.
We have specialised knowledge in the supply and installation of soil moisture monitoring networks.
