Description
The Geolux FX200 represents a next-generation open channel flow monitoring solution that combines surface velocity radar, water level radar, and LiDAR channel scanning into a single non-contact instrument. Its ability to automatically characterize the channel geometry and internally calculate discharge significantly simplifies installation and commissioning compared to traditional area-velocity systems. With high accuracy, low maintenance requirements, and strong resistance to environmental interference, the FX200 is particularly well suited to flood warning networks, environmental monitoring programs, irrigation systems, and wastewater discharge monitoring applications.
Unlike traditional flow monitoring systems that require separate sensors and manual channel surveys, the FX200 internally calculates total flow discharge by combining:
• Surface water velocity
• Water level
• Channel cross-sectional profile
The system performs these calculations within the instrument itself, providing a complete flow rate output directly to telemetry systems or data loggers.
A significant advantage of the FX200 is its onboard LiDAR channel scanner, which can automatically determine and update the river or channel cross-section. This removes the need for manual surveying and allows the instrument to accommodate changes in channel geometry caused by erosion, sediment build-up, or maintenance activities.
The FX200 utilizes advanced FMCW (Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave) 4D radar processing, providing superior performance compared to conventional Doppler-based surface velocity radars.
Key benefits:
• Improved sensitivity at low flow velocities
• Resistance to environmental interference
• Reduced impact from rain and precipitation
• Immunity to vibration from bridges and structures
• Consistent measurement accuracy under varying environmental conditions
Traditional Doppler sensors can experience degraded performance in difficult conditions, whereas the FX200’s signal processing architecture is designed to maintain reliable, high-accuracy measurements.
Typical Applications:
• Early flood warning systems
• Flow monitoring in irrigation channels
• Accurate discharge monitoring in rivers
• Sewage and wastewater discharge measurement
