Description

Footvalves are essential components of Waterra’s inertial pumps, a simple and affordable system for groundwater sampling and purging. The footvalves are attached to the bottom of Waterra tubing and operate by allowing water to flow into the tubing on the downstroke and preventing it from flowing back out on the up stroke. The oscillating motion forces the water to the surface, where it can be collected and sampled.
The tubing is oscillated either manually at shallow depths or by a powered actuator like the Waterra Lever Pump, Waterra HydroLift or Waterra Power Pack.
Water can be pumped from up to 60m depth in 50mm diameter boreholes.

Most Popular Size Footvalves:
• Standard Flow System: Uses D-25 or SS-19-foot valves for 2-inch monitoring wells. Uses 5/8″ OD Tubing.
• High Flow System: Uses D-32 or SS-32-foot valves for 2-inch or larger wells. Uses 1″ OD Tubing.

Benefits:
• Simplicity: The system is easy to use and maintain, with minimal moving parts.
• Cost-effectiveness: Waterra inertial pumps are relatively inexpensive, making them accessible for various applications.
• Versatility: They can be used in various well diameters and depths, including narrow piezometers.
• Effectiveness: The oscillating motion ensures efficient water sampling and purging.

The Standard System also accommodates VOC sampling.
