Optimising Dewatering: Improving water and wastewater management with advanced water balance strategies and innovative technologies
Presenters:
Thorough understanding and diligent management of site water balance are fundamental to sustainable environmental stewardship and operational efficiency across various industries. System boundaries can range from small project sites to an entire catchment, with operational intervals that can range from days to decades. Regardless of the industry, effective water balance management yields significant benefits, which extend beyond environmental compliance and into operational and financial sustainability. Water balances can be used to identify inefficiencies and wasteful practices in water management, and serve as the basis for decision making regarding infrastructure development and operational adjustments.
This talk presents aspects relating to Improving Water and Wastewater Management Strategies for Dewatering through Optimising Water Balance Approaches and Integrating Innovative Technologies. We will explore the core water balance concept, planning and regulatory approvals pathways for dewatering and water reuse / discharge, typical dewatering management systems, critical monitoring requirements, and unique challenges and solutions specific to these activities – including environmental compliance. The objective of this talk is to provide valuable information and a basis for further dialogue between private industry, stakeholders, and regulators on sustainable water management practices relating to dewatering projects.
