Heidelberg Materials Australia, formerly known as Hanson Australia operate the Wollert Landfill, located in Victoria. The landfill has been since 2000 and accepts various types of waste and has a long remaining operational life.
The existing automatic weather station (AWS) at Wollert Landfill had begun experiencing intermittent telemetry issues after many years in operation. Heidelberg sought to upgrade the system to ensure reliable, real-time monitoring and cloud-based management for parameters such as rainfall, barometric pressure, air temperature, relative humidity, solar radiation, and wind speed and direction. ​

The new weather station now provides reliable, real-time monitoring of rainfall, barometric pressure, air temperature, relative humidity, solar radiation, and wind conditions. Data streams directly to Heidelberg’s DataStream™ platform, replacing the previous telemetry failures with a stable, solar-powered system. The client can now view key parameters through a custom dashboard, with alarms set up for early warnings and improved operational oversight.
