A couple of weeks ago, we were joined by Emeritus Professor, Jack Ng from the Queensland Alliance for Environmental Health Sciences, The University of Queensland.

Jack was the lead author of the NEPM guidance for industry on “Contaminant Bioavailability and Bioaccessibility”, and a contributor to several WHO, JECFA, and IARC monographs including the upcoming IARC monograph for the evaluation of PFOS and PFOA. Jack is one of very few recognised toxicologists in Australia.

Jack covered the following topics in great depth:

  • The importance of internal dose assessment.
  • How bioavailability and bioaccessibility provide a more refined risk assessment.
  • Developing a new tool for safe cattle grazing on rehabilitated mine sites.
  • Developing a new tool for assessing cyanide complexes in tailing dams.
  • New IARC classification of PFOS and PFOA coming by the end of 2024.

This was an incredibly insightful webinar which generated much audience engagement. We would like to once again thank Jack for presenting, and all of you for attending. If you were unable to attend, you can view the webinar in full on our YouTube channel or on our website.
