At HydroTerra, we are always looking at suitable solutions to bring to the marketplace that can assist our customers monitoring needs. Customer applications are varied and we strive to have a range of off-the-shelf solutions that can address the challenging demands of environmental monitoring. The SolaRaft-iQDB™ from Hydro BioScience, is one such innovative solution that we are very happy to bring to our local market.

The SolaRaft-iQDB™ buoy is an integrated, solar-powered floating monitoring platform designed to deliver continuous, high-quality environmental data in challenging aquatic environments. Combining robust buoy design with advanced water quality instrumentation and telemetry, the iQM system is particularly well suited to regulatory compliance monitoring, where reliability, data accuracy, and traceability are critical.

At its core, the SolaRaft-iQDB™ buoy provides a fully autonomous monitoring station capable of long-term deployment in rivers, lakes, reservoirs, and coastal waters.

The system integrates:

• Multi-parameter water quality sondes (e.g., pH, dissolved oxygen, turbidity, conductivity, temperature, nutrients). We are pleased to say that the Solinst Eureka Manta range has been integrated onto the platform.
• Solar power with battery storage for extended unattended operation.
• Telemetry (4G/5G, radio, or satellite) for real-time data transmission.
• Onboard data logging and system diagnostics.

This turnkey approach ensures that compliance monitoring programs can move beyond discrete grab sampling toward continuous, high-resolution datasets, improving both confidence and defensibility of reported results.

There are a couple of other exciting products in the Solaraft range, providing solutions to challenging needs. For example, the Solaraft Vertical Profiler that can deploy a sonde down to 50m depth (standard) and generate a profile of the water quality.
