Our Client

The Royal Sydney Golf Club (RSGC) is one of Australia’s most prestigious private sporting and social clubs, located in the harbourside suburb of Rose Bay in Sydney’s eastern suburbs. Established in 1893, it has a reputation for excellence in golf, elite facilities and strong sporting traditions.

The Issue

Royal Sydney Golf Club required a solution that could:

  • Reliably supply irrigation water from multiple groundwater bores
  • Reduce reliance on manual pump operation
  • Protect groundwater resources from over‑extraction
  • Provide remote visibility and control of pumping assets

The site required an automated system capable of responding dynamically to irrigation demand while maintaining safeguards on groundwater levels

HydroTerra's Solution

HydroTerra designed, supplied, installed, and commissioned a telemetry‑driven groundwater monitoring and pump automation system across five locations (four bores and the irrigation lake).

The system continuously monitors groundwater and lake water levels and automatically controls pump operation using predefined start and stop conditions. Pump control is achieved via cellular‑connected telemetry units and relay outputs interfaced with existing pump infrastructure.

All monitoring, automation, and control functions are accessed through the Observant web platform, providing secure, cloud‑based access to live data and pump status.

 

 

Installation Details

  • 1 x Observant Solo+ 4G telemetry system
  • 1 x  Seametrics PT12 level sensor, 30m cable (0-30 mH2O range, gauge)
  • 1 x interface for flow meter pulse output
  • 1 x relay control output for pump control

Results

The Royal Sydney Golf Club project demonstrates HydroTerra’s capability to deliver:

  • Automated groundwater extraction systems
  • Reliable irrigation water management
