We recently delivered a comprehensive customised Soil Sampling Workshop led by our environmental scientist Ruben Andersen, bringing together a group of trainees for a practical, end-to-end guide to best-practice soil sampling.

The session covered everything from defining sampling objectives and designing robust programs through to field collection, QA/QC procedures, and preventing cross-contamination. Attendees explored:

• Regulatory frameworks and waste classification requirements
• Sampling design strategies (grid, random, judgemental, and stratified approaches)
• Equipment selection and field methods
• Quality assurance and data reliability
• Sample handling, documentation, and contamination prevention

Workshops like this provide valuable opportunities for hands-on learning and in-person discussion, supporting more informed decision-making in contaminated land and waste management projects. We were thrilled to receive highly positive feedback, with trainees highlighting the session as time well spent.

Due to growing demand for customised training, we have another tailored workshop coming up in April — a one-day, in-person session on HydroTerra’s Groundwater Data Loggers, Telemetry, and Sampling Equipment Selection. The interactive workshop will include equipment demonstrations in HydroTerra’s workshop, along with a live monitoring bore. Wait to see more about this coming workshop soon.

In the meantime, if you would like HydroTerra to run one for these workshops for you and your staff please feel free to get in touch with us to create one for you.
