Environment Protection Authority Victoria (EPA) and its partners have initiated a series of programs to better understand contaminants in urban environments through its GardenSafe program and a series of novel animal biomonitoring studies.
Join us for a webinar tomorrow with Mark Taylor, Chief Environmental Scientist from the EPA Victoria, Professor Simon Griffith from Macquarie University, and Richard Campbell to cover the sources, pathways, and absorption of environmental contaminants by honeybees, as well as both wild and domestic birds. These species, found across the globe and often living alongside humans, serve as indicators of environmental risks to human health.
Within the studies they examined the uptake and transfer of antimicrobial resistance genes and trace metals in European honeybees, lead exposure in domestic chickens, and the bioaccumulation of PFAS and lead in house sparrows.
