Cumulative impacts from coal seam gas & mining – a framework in action for modelling and monitoring

Over 15 years the development of a framework for an independent and innovative assessment of cumulative impacts from coal seam gas, petroleum and mining activities has been successfully operating in the Surat and Bowen basins in Queensland by the Office of Groundwater Impact Assessment (OGIA).
Why was this framework needed?, and what were the key elements of it? These questions and more were answered within this presentation. We gained insight into what has been achieved by the framework and learnt about the operational elements relating to modelling and monitoring, key challenges and lessons learned.
