How climate change is affecting flood planning & design | Dr. Conrad Wasko & Richard Campbell
Presenters:
This webinar is presented by recognised water engineer Dr Conrad Wasko, an ARC DECRA Fellow at the University of Melbourne. Conrad has contributed to the national guidelines on flood estimation, and his current research focuses on understanding the effects of climate change on hydrology and extreme events.
There has been significant progress incorporating the impacts of climate change on engineering design. What is the best way to consider the additional uncertainty due to climate change when estimating floods for planning and design purposes? How do we design infrastructure to mitigate the risk of flooding?
This webinar presents a background to design flood estimation and outlines how climate change is affecting each of the components of the design flood. The Australia flood guidance will be presented in context with global efforts to plan for climate change.
