HydroTerra recently participated in the ANCOLD 2024 Conference, held at the Adelaide Convention Centre in mid-November. The event brought together over 600 professionals, researchers, and stakeholders from across Australia, offering an invaluable platform for discussing the latest advancements in dam engineering and safety.
With Australia holding over 500 large dams, ANCOLD plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of dam management. This year’s conference highlighted solutions and strategies for challenges faced by dam operators. HydroTerra was proud to contribute to this dialogue, showcasing advanced technologies for remote dam monitoring.
HydroTerra representatives Wilma Fouche and Nick Bailey were joined by Scott Osterman of Willowstick, based in Montana USA. Together HydroTerra and Willowstick shared a booth which aligns with our collaborative approach on geophysical investigations. HydroTerra presented its solutions for monitoring water quality, water levels, air quality and dust, soil moisture, and groundwater. Willowstick showcasing geophysical investigation technologies (Traditional technology involving electromagnetic fields, and Microseismic resonance), which for large dams can diagnose seepage in dam walls and pin-point flow paths. Was also exciting to see the new drone technology on show allowing for more efficient data collection.
The conference was a resounding success – By working together, both companies showcased their capabilities to professionals in the dam industry, underlining their shared commitment to innovation, safety and compliance in dam management.
