The Mulloon Institute
HydroTerra has been working with The Mulloon Institute (TMI) for more than five years, which has evolved into a long-term collaborative relationship. With a strong alignment of values and complimentary skill sets the relationship works well: TMI provides exceptional demonstration and extension services to the agricultural sector. Meanwhile HydroTerra provides project management and technical rigour around the monitoring of their demonstration sites. As this relationship has evolved, we have started to collaborate on the pursuit of funding opportunities through grants, which is proving to be successful.
ONE Basin CRC
HydroTerra has been an active participant in the formative stages of the ONE Basin Cooperative Research Centre (CRC) bid. It is a massive undertaking, one that the University of Melbourne has taken the lead on. If successful, the ONE Basin CRC will support resilient communities in the Murray-Darling Basin by creating innovations at the nexus of water, agriculture, energy and environmental systems with an estimated economic benefit exceeding $6 billion by 2036. The bid brings together diverse Basin stakeholders who seek a collaborative approach to adapt to the changing future challenges in the Murray-Darling Basin and beyond.
NSW DPI
The Department of Primary Industries’ (NSW) emphasises technology, and its application to improve agricultural productivity. We are collaborating with the NSW DPI and The Mulloon Institute on a major landscape rehydration modelling project. This Project will develop an evaluation framework (system) to quantitatively assess the NSW agricultural landscape where various rehydration approaches are most likely to be successful and communicate through a rehydration priority map and extension activities. This initiative was supported by the NSW DPI Demonstrating Adaptation program, part of the NSW Climate Change Research Strategy for Primary Industries.
Yarra Riverkeeper Association
The Yarra Riverkeeper Association (YRKA) is the “voice of the Yarra”. They are an independent, community led organisation of advocates who represent and protect this iconic Melbourne waterway. HydroTerra has been working in partnership to explore how we can develop improved monitoring of the Yarra River and facilitate improved catchment management. As Melbourne’s population grows and the climate crisis worsens, the Yarra, Birrarung is coming under increasing environmental pressure, pollution, and habitat fragmentation affecting biodiversity and health.
