Description

The Outdoor Air Quality Test Kit (Starter) is for users who want an affordable set of tools to measure the common pollutants in ambient outdoor air.

The Outdoor Air Quality Test Kit (Starter) features Aeroqual’s proven Series 500 portable monitor that can be used to measure a range of pollutants by simply swapping the sensor heads for the pollutant you wish to monitor. Nitrogen dioxide, ozone and particulate matter are the three main air pollutants in urban environments. Nitrogen dioxide (NO2) and particulate matter (PM) is emitted directly by stationary vehicles and ozone (O3) is created when NO2 and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) combine in the presence of sunlight. The health effects of these pollutants are well-documented. The Outdoor Starter Kit includes the following sensors: particulate matter (PM) sensor (PM2.5/PM10), two criteria pollutant gas sensors (NO2, O3), and a combined temperature and relative humidity sensor. For a full set of tools, including additional sensor heads measuring CO and VOCs, see the Outdoor Air Quality Test Kit (Pro).

Now you can get a better understanding of the outdoor air using instruments tried and proven by researchers and air quality professionals around the world.

Aeroqual is changing the way people understand the air they breathe. We make simple tools that companies, communities and citizens can use to monitor and respond, in real-time, to air pollution wherever they live, work and play.

Established in 2001, Aeroqual has spent more than a decade perfecting sensor-based air quality measurements in a variety of applications and climates in more than 50 countries worldwide.

Their products have been tried and tested by high profile customers such as U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, New York Department of Environmental protection, Samsung, NASA, and AECOM. Most recently, they have signed a five-year Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) with the United States Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA) to advance low-cost air sensor technology. As the shift towards sensor-based air quality monitoring accelerates Aeroqual is setting the standard for others to follow.

Sensors have many advantages over traditional measurement techniques, but so far few companies have been able to produce credible and defensible air quality measurements. This is especially true in outdoor ambient monitoring applications where low detection levels and environmental factors make sensor-based measurement extremely challenging.

Making defensible air quality measurements using relatively low cost sensors requires unique skills, experience and technology. We have developed and continue to develop deep and multi-disciplinary expertise covering:

  • Sensor design, fabrication and calibration
  • Signal processing and algorithms
  • Instrument design and development
  • Application and support of instruments in the field
  • Atmospheric science

We have invested in bespoke calibration and production facilities in Auckland, New Zealand which operate under ISO 9001:2008. Our people are experts in the field, determined to help customers realize the benefits from sensor-based air quality measurement.
