Webinar on Tomorrow: Emerging Contaminants in the Australian environment: Confronting the hidden cost of convenience
29 May 2025
Join us tomorrow for an eye-opening session with Associate Professor Brad Clarke, PhD (University of Melbourne), and HydroTerra Pty Ltd’s Senior Environmental Scientist, Ruben Andersen, as they explore the rising threat of emerging contaminants like microplastics, pharmaceuticals, and PFAS.
Brad will discuss the growing threat of emerging contaminants—like pharmaceuticals, industrial chemicals, and microplastics—and how they’re impacting our environment and health. These substances are everywhere, often unregulated, and we’re only beginning to understand their long-term effects.
Using case studies on microplastics and PFAS, Brad will explore the challenges in detecting these pollutants and assessing their risks. He’ll also highlight Australian research on how we’re tracking and analyzing these substances, especially in biological tissues, where exposure is most concerning.
This session is a must for anyone interested in how modern chemicals are shaping our ecosystems—and what we can do about it.
