Plastic pollution and ocean health is under the spotlight this World Environment Day (5 June) and World Oceans Day (8 June) with Plastic Oceans Australasia (POA) presenting a special message to help protect our oceans.

Featuring Ricki Hersburgh (POA’s Executive Director), Dr Paul Harvey (author of The Plasticology Project), Nicola Tsiolis (ocean activist and World Ocean Day Youth Advisory Council Alumni) and Dan Abbott (world renowned cinematographer), the hour-long event will highlight the critical issues and challenges related to plastic pollution and ocean health. The discussion will focus on the state of the planet, and how to move forward to make a positive change, with action takeaways.

The 60-minute recording will be available for organisations and communities to share with their networks. POA invites organisations to use the recording to raise awareness about the need for urgent action to protect our oceans. The recording can be shared through the United Nations World Oceans Day website as an activity, which will help reach a global audience.
